Her entire life became a love fully given to another person. Today, our beloved Sister Jolanta has rested.

In 1945, she stood at the threshold of Kasisi as a barely twenty-year-old girl. She came to Zambia with one simple dream - to give her heart to those who needed it most. Kasisi became her home forever. For nearly 80 years, she raised entire generations of Kasisi.

Sr. Jolanta Bajak answered God's call in the early hours of today, August 14, 2026. Sr. Jolanta was born on February 1, 1926.

It is with profound sadness that we received the news of the tragic passing of Stelios Shula Sardanis, Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of Chaminuka.

To our children, he was more than just a friend of Kasisi. He was someone who opened the doors to adult life for them. It was at Chaminuka that many of our young people took their first steps into professional life, discovering that someone believed in their abilities and was willing to give them a chance.

Yesterday, June 1 2026, the Polish President, Karol Nawrocki, conferred the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta on Sister Jolanta (Mayo), and the Officer's Cross of the same order on Sister Mariola (Mamusia), in recognition of their humanitarian and missionary service in Zambia. The awards were presented in person by the Polish Undersecretary of State, Mateusz Kotecki. In attendance was the Polish Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Szymon Holownia, a dedicated friend of Kasisi Children's Home.
