In Loving Memory of Sister Jolanta (Mayo) - Fundacja Kasisi
Her entire life became a love fully given to another person. Today, our beloved Sister Jolanta has rested.
In 1945, she stood at the threshold of Kasisi as a barely twenty-year-old girl. She came to Zambia with one simple dream - to give her heart to those who needed it most. Kasisi became her home forever. For nearly 80 years, she raised entire generations of Kasisi. She remembered the difficult times when a spoonful of sugar was the only comfort for a hungry child. She saw the changing world, but her arms remained a safe haven for hundreds of little hearts.
Even when her body failed in recent years, she never lost her sense of humor. With a ladle in one hand and a shoulder to lean on, she laughed, saying, "Life is good - on one hand, a lover, on the other, a young man, and ahead!" Until the very end, her words were always: "Life is beautiful."
Thanks to your kindness, Sister Jolanta was able to live her beautiful 100th birthday with the feeling that her life's mission had borne fruit. She saw shelves full in our pantry, the education of hundreds of children, and the development of the hospital, which no longer lacked medicine.
There are people whose departure leaves a scar in the heart, but in the case of Sister Jolanta, we have above all a deep sense of gratitude. We believe that where she is now, there are never a shortage of coffee candies, and the smile that warmed children's hearts for decades now brightens the entire sky.
Thank you, Sister Jolanta, for every hand you offered, for every prayer, and for the lesson in how to live beautifully. We believe that now you can truly rest.
And if the world is beautiful, then where you went is even more beautiful.

Sr. Jolanta Bajak answered God's call in the early hours of today, August 14, 2026. Sr. Jolanta was born on February 1, 1926.

On September 24, about forty members of staff at Grant Thornton Zambia came and renovated our playground equipment. They also donated lots of gifts and played with our children.
A very big thank you to our great friends at Grant Thornton for making this day very special! It was filled with lots of fun, joy and excitement.
In Loving Memory of Stelios Shula Sardanis
It is with profound sadness that we received the news of the tragic passing of Stelios Shula Sardanis, Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of Chaminuka.
To our children, he was more than just a friend of Kasisi. He was someone who opened the doors to adult life for them. It was at Chaminuka that many of our young people took their first steps into professional life, discovering that someone believed in their abilities and was willing to give them a chance.
He was also part of many beautiful memories. His kindness brought warmth and joy to our children, especially during Christmas and Easter celebrations. His generosity meant so much to us. It reminded our children that they were cared for, remembered, and worthy of kindness and love.
The good that a person gives to others does not leave this world with them. It remains - in the people they touched, in their gratitude, in their memories, and in the stories that will be told for many years to come.
Today, with all our hearts, we stand in solidarity with his Family, Loved Ones, and the entire Chaminuka community in their grief.
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.
We were delighted to welcome ZAMBEEF to Kasisi Children's Home as they celebrated International Women's Day with us. They generously brought donations and spent time with our children, creating a joyful and memorable experience. We are sincerely grateful for their kindness, generosity, and continued support.

Kalimu
Our talented young artist, 12-year-old Kalimu, won an award in the Art Competition in Wolin Parish, Poland. We are very proud of him, and we hope he will continue his career in art!
Our new foundation in the US
Kasisi Hope Foundation, founded by siblings Grant Snyder and Tracy Snyder Kane, is dedicated to supporting specialized medical services for children at Kasisi Children's Home in Zambia. Our goal is to enrich the lives of up to 250 children by providing essential medical care that is not available locally.
Grant found Kasisi during one of his many photo safari trips in Africa, and after his visit, that was his last safari. He now visits Kasisi frequently.
Knit and Natter Bangor ladies are coming to Kasisi
About 15 years ago, a charity called Action Mental Health approached Libraries Northern Ireland about starting Knit and Natter groups to help adults of all ages come together, learn a skill, and make friends. Knitting was chosen as a relaxing, mindful activity. The groups have helped people who are lonely, newly bereaved, or just arrived in the town, knowing no one and wanting to make friends.
The COVID lockdown made more people look for something to do, and word spread of the knitting the Bangor ladies were doing for Zambia, through neighbours and friends - soon a large number of knitters were producing beautiful baby clothes, mainly for premature babies at first, but now for all infant ages, along with little teddies and sourced baby grows from sales and charity shops. Several Zambian groups have already benefited from their dedication and generosity, and the photos they receive from recipients really encourage the knitters to know they're making a real difference to the babies. They are now excited to extend their help to Kasisi Children's Home.

As part of the support provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, part of the project "Improving teaching conditions for the charges of the Kasisi Children's Home," we are happy to report that we managed to purchase 200 backpacks with full equipment, as well as laptops and a photocopier, which were donated to our library. The project is implemented as part of the development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
