DSCSC Donates to Kasisi Children's Home

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), led by the Commandant, visited Kasisi Orphanage Centre and donated various items. This happened at a time when the Orphanage was preparing to commemorate its 100 years of dedicated service on 05 November 2026, under the theme, “Celebrating 100 Years of Love, Care and Hope: Serving the Present, Inspiring the Future.”

Speaking during the occasion, the Commandant DSCSC, Brigadier General Phillimon SAMATAMBA, described the visit as an honour and privilege, asserting the College’s commitment to community service and humanitarian responsibility.

Kasisi Children's Home Sister in Charge, Sister Mariola MIERZEJEWSKA, warmly welcomed the Commandant, Directing Staff and Student Officers, expressing gratitude to the College for choosing their Orphanage during Humanism Week. She noted that the visit reflected the spirit of national service, particularly as Zambia celebrates its Independence Day, honouring those whose sacrifices shaped the nation.

“As we celebrate Independence Day, we remember with gratitude those who worked and sacrificed to build our nation. Your presence here today is a beautiful expression of the spirit of service,” she said.

Brig Gen SAMATAMBA observed that caring for vulnerable children transcends charity, constituting a strategic investment in national development. He commended Kasisi Children's Home's century long legacy of compassion, sacrifice, and dedication, emphasising the importance of supporting present needs while inspiring future generations.

“One hundred years represents a legacy of love, sacrifice, and service to humanity. It is a milestone worthy of recognition and celebration,” said the Commandant.

As an institution founded on leadership, discipline, service, and patriotism, DSCSC recognises that its mission extends beyond professional military education to uplifting surrounding communities.

Through this CSR initiative, The College expresses its commitment to practical humanitarian action and the well-being of future citizens.

In his closing message, Brig Gen SAMATAMBA encouraged the children to pursue excellence, reminding them that their present circumstances should never define their aspirations. He urged them to harness their abilities and become responsible citizens capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

“You are important for our nation’s future. Your present circumstances do not determine the limits of your future. Strive for excellence, use your abilities to make a positive difference in society,” said the Commandant.

The visit serves as a demonstration of fundamental military ethos and service to the nation that extends beyond the barracks, embracing compassion, community solidarity, and investment in the leaders of tomorrow.

Items donated by Course 28/2028 included food stuff, detergents, cleaning materials and clothes.
